Competitions galore!

The Simpsons and Futurama fanworks central is currently running a series of "theme a day" competitions. Each competition runs for just a day and is focussedo on simple themes or ideas. Quality of entries is less important than creative interpretation of the theme. Winners receive a virtual hug.

On the "Random Pic" section of SFFC, I notice that you have a Neptunian crew member...in my third "Last Turanga" story, the woman instructor that is trying to get Fry certified with his captain's rating is a Neptunian named Chenirr Tal’emm. I really like your arm placement on the pic.

Here's a writing question for you...a published friend of mine always told me that he just sat in front of the keys and started typing away...I usually have some idea of where I want the story to go, but I'm open to changes and surprises. It's sort of like designing the interior of a house - you have some vision in mind before you start. Which school are you part of?

I tend to be both, depending on how I feel at the time. Sometimes just sitting down and writing works, though I find it tends to lead into blind alleys if I'm not careful. Sometimes I have to plan everything out, but that also leads into problems if I'm not careful. So, yeah, both, as and when needed.
